Project Details

The Eco-Restoration of Ennore Creek was initiated by the Government of Tamil Nadu at a sanctioned cost of Rs.45.99 crore under the aegis of Chennai Rivers Restoration Trust. Habitat Restoration (Plantation work) is being implemented by Tamil Nadu Forest Department in Ennore Creek within 2 years (i.e. 2023 to 2025) and the Plantation works have been fully completed under this project. Forest Department had cleared the Prosopis juliflora and completed the plantation of mangroves & its associated species i.e. 1,60,000 nos. out of 1,60,000 nos of mangroves and 2,00,000 nos. out of 2,00,000 nos of mangrove associated species and 1,00,000 Nos. of Shrubs, creeper seedlings have been planted. Prosopis juliflora has been cleared in 200 ha out of 200 ha within Ennore Creek. The plantation is being maintained by the Forest Department.
